Okay, so, today I wanted to try out this “3 card yes or no tarot spread” thing. I’ve been seeing it around, and it seemed like a simple way to get a quick answer to a burning question. So, I grabbed my tarot deck and found a quiet spot to try it out.

First, I shuffled the cards while focusing on my question. I won’t tell you what the question was because, you know, privacy. But I made sure to really concentrate on it, pouring all my energy into the cards. Once I felt like the cards were thoroughly mixed and imbued with my question, I stopped shuffling.
Then, I cut the deck into three piles and then restacked them – just a little ritual I like to do. After that, I laid out three cards face down in a row. I took a deep breath and flipped them over one by one. The anticipation was kinda fun, I have to admit.
- The first card was the five of cups, upright.
- The second card was the eight of wands, reversed.
- The third card was the ace of pentacles, also upright.
Now, I’m no tarot expert, but from what I understand, if you get mostly upright cards, it leans towards a “yes,” and if it’s mostly reversed, it’s more of a “no.” In my case, I got two upright and one reversed. Based on that simple system, it seemed like the answer was pointing towards a “yes.”
I also tried to think about what each card might mean individually. Five of cups, upright, seems to represent loss. Eight of wands reversed is slowing down. But ace of pentacles upright, that’s all about new beginnings. I tried to interpret these cards in the context of my question. It was a bit tricky, but I think I got a sense of what the cards were trying to tell me beyond just a simple “yes” or “no.”
Overall, it was a pretty interesting experience. The 3-card spread did give me a quick answer, and it also provided some extra food for thought. I might try this again sometime when I have another question that needs a simple, yet insightful, answer. It is kinda fun and also give me some inspiration.
