Alright, so, yesterday I decided to mess around with tarot cards. I’ve always been a bit curious about them, not in a super serious way, but more like, “Hey, this looks kinda cool, let’s see what it’s about.” So, I went ahead and got myself a deck online – nothing fancy, just a standard one to start with.
First thing I did was, I opened the package. Took the deck out. The cards felt kinda smooth and new, you know? They had these intricate designs on them, which I thought were pretty neat. Then I remembered reading somewhere that you’re supposed to “connect” with your deck, so I just sat there for a few minutes, holding the cards, flipping through them, just kind of getting a feel for them.
Then came the actual reading part. I decided to keep it simple for my first try and went with a three-card spread. Apparently, this is a pretty common thing for beginners. So, I laid out the three cards in a line, like the past, present, and future, which is what I read about them.
Before that, I thought about a question. I mean, I tried to think about something general like. What I need to see. Then I shuffled the deck. Focusing on my question. I kept shuffling until it felt right, then I cut the deck and drew three cards.
- First card: Past. It was some card with a picture of a guy hanging upside down. I checked the little booklet that came with the deck, and it said something about “new perspectives” and “letting go.” I guess it made some sense, considering some old habits I’ve been trying to shake.
- Second card: Present. This one showed a bunch of cups and some dude looking all sad. The booklet talked about disappointment and focusing on the negative. Yeah, I could relate to that a bit – been feeling a bit stuck lately.
- Third card: Future. This one was more positive, with a picture of people dancing and celebrating. The booklet mentioned success and achievement after hard work. That sounded pretty good, honestly. It was nice to see something hopeful there.
After laying out the cards, I just sat there for a while, looking at them, thinking about what they might mean in the context of my question. It was more of an exercise in introspection, really. I mean, I’m not taking this as gospel or anything, but it was interesting to see how the card descriptions could be interpreted in different ways.
Honestly, the whole experience was pretty chill. It was a nice way to spend some quiet time, just reflecting on things. I might do it again sometime, maybe with a different question or a more complex spread. It’s not about predicting the future or anything for me, but more like a tool for self-reflection, you know? A way to look at things from a different angle and maybe get some new insights into my own thoughts and feelings.
So, yeah, that was my little tarot experiment. Kinda fun, kinda thought-provoking. We’ll see if I turn into a tarot enthusiast or not, but for now, it was a cool way to spend an evening.
