Okay, so, I’ve been messing around with this whole Vedic astrology thing, and let me tell you, it’s a trip. I started looking into my rising sign, which they call the “ascendant” and I found out that it’s the sign that was like, popping up on the eastern horizon when you were born. Mine’s Cancer, which is apparently called “Karkataka Lagna.” I found that it means that at the time of my birth, the sign Cancer was rising from above the ground, in a way similar to the rising of the sun.
Now, I gotta admit, I’m not totally sold on all this astrology stuff, but it’s kinda fun to see what it says about you. So, I dug into this Cancer rising business. They say people with Cancer rising tend to be, you know, more on the chill side, peaceful. I guess that kinda fits me. I’m not exactly the life of the party, more like the person hanging out in the corner, observing everything.
Here’s what I did:
- First, I found my birth time. This is important because your rising sign changes every two hours or so. I had to ask my mom, and let me tell you, that was a whole conversation.
- Then, I used one of those online calculators. You just plug in your birth date, time, and place, and it spits out your whole birth chart, including your rising sign.
- After that, I started reading up on Cancer rising. There’s a ton of info out there, and it can be a bit overwhelming. I mostly stuck to websites that seemed legit and didn’t get too into the woo-woo stuff.
The Moon rules Cancer, apparently. And the Moon is all about emotions and intuition. So, Cancer rising folks are supposed to be pretty sensitive and in tune with their feelings. They also say we’re all about security and relationships. I can see that in myself. I mean, I’m not super ambitious in that whole “climbing the corporate ladder” way, but I do care a lot about my close relationships.
According to Phala Deepika, an ancient Vedic astrology text, it’s said that those with Cancer rising are ‘henpecked’ – I guess that means easily influenced, not sure how I feel about that one! It also mentions we have thick necks – gotta check that in the mirror later!
This whole astrology thing is a deep dive. I’ve read about how Cancer rising people are good at building relationships and how they like to create a safe and cozy home environment. It’s all pretty interesting, even if I don’t take it all too seriously. I have learned that those who are Cancer ascendants are ambitious, but not in a hasty, forceful, risk-oriented manner. And also we would be a good fit as a manager, supervisor, or business owner, you might find yourself working in a field like real estate, child care, or hospitality.
I guess I’m still figuring out what I think about all this. But it’s been a fun little project, and it’s given me some things to think about. Maybe there’s something to this whole Cancer rising thing after all.
