Okay, so I was messing around with tarot cards the other day, just for fun, you know? And I realized I didn’t actually know the proper order of all the cards. I mean, I know some of them, but definitely not all 78.

So, I thought, why not make it a little project? I decided to list out all the tarot cards in order. First, I grabbed a piece of paper and a pen, feeling all old-school and stuff. Then I started with the Major Arcana, since those are the big-name cards everyone talks about.
I started writing them down: The Magician, The High Priestess, The Empress… I got a few in, but then my mind went totally blank. Time to hit the internet, I guess. I found this one site that had a list, but it was kind of confusing. Then I found another one that was better, it even had some meanings listed out, which was cool.
Major Arcana
- I started copying them down: The Emperor, The Hierophant, The Lovers, and so on.
- There are 22 of these Major Arcana cards, ending with The World.
After that, I moved on to the Minor Arcana. These are split into four suits, kind of like regular playing cards. You got your Wands, Cups, Swords, and Pentacles. Each suit has 14 cards, so that’s 56 cards in total for the Minor Arcana.
Minor Arcana
- Wands: I wrote down Ace through 10, then Page, Knight, Queen, and King.
- Cups: Same deal here, Ace to 10, then the court cards.
- Swords: You get the idea – numbers, then the fancy folks.
- Pentacles: And lastly, the Pentacles, following the same pattern.
It took a bit of time, but I finally got them all written down. It felt pretty good to have the complete list in front of me. Now, I have this handy little reference sheet whenever I’m doing readings or just playing around with the cards. Plus, I learned a bit more about the meanings of some cards I wasn’t too familiar with, which is always a bonus. I have to say it is pretty fun.
